👑 Welcome to the Indy Chess Team, Jerika Eppel! 👑

We are absolutely thrilled to officially introduce our new Chess Coach and Program Coordinator, Jerika Eppel! Jerika joined us earlier this month and has already hit the ground running, coaching more than 100 kids at our Indy Chess summer camps.

We're thrilled she chose Indianapolis and our club given this resume...

🎓 Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University, Teach for America alum, & experienced classroom teacher (including special education)

📋 Recently organized and directed the Arkansas State Chess Championship! She is just one tournament away from "Senior TD" status (the level required to become a FIDE arbiter)

♟️ Taught kids' night at the prestigious Memphis Chess Center, the city where she moved here from

📈 Only started playing rated tournaments post-pandemic and has already skyrocketed to a 1472 peak rating (and counting!).

🏆 Had a great start in Indianapolis competing in our inaugural Crossroads of America Open, going undefeated (3-0-1) in the U1500 section!
