When the cell towers are down, or overloaded, when the land lines are down and the power is out, Amateur Radio operators can communicate with other operators anywhere in the world.

Reminder to check-in to the weekly Prince George's County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (PRGE ARES) Very High Frequency (VHF) Training Net tonight.
Don – KC3TLO and Pam – KB3SWS are the scheduled net control and alternate net control operators for the net. All are welcome. You do not have to be an ARES member or a Prince George’s County resident to participate.
Who: Any interested amateur radio operator.
What: PRGE ARES VHF Training Net. Tune in to hear the weekly training topic.
Where: K3ERA 2M Repeater, 145.23 MHz (-), Tone 110.9 Hz. Also, via EchoLink Node: N3XL-R.
When: Tuesday, 21 April 2026, 7:30 p.m. - ~ 8:00 p.m.
Why: Encourage interest in and provide information about the ARES and exercise communication skills.
How: The Net Control Station is W3PGC. This is a directed net; listen for instructions and address all transmissions to Net Control.
One can also follow along with NetLogger; look for PRGE ARES Training Net under “Select Net.” Client software is available as a free download from netlogger.org.
