Lauren is a glass artist who received a BFA with a concentration in Glass from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She’s been blowing glass for 15 years now!
She is originally from Blue Ridge, Virginia but moved to Austin after working for the Corning Museum of Glass (CMOG) in Corning, New York.
“While working for CMOG, I blew glass as a form of entertainment on board Celebrity Cruise Ships. It was on the top deck with all the electric equipment. I have had the world and I am so grateful for my experiences.”
Lauren creates and sells a variety of items from vases, glassware, cute mushroom sculptures 🥺, etc. And yes, all made by blowing and molding glass! Follow her instagram for some cool behind the scenes of how her pieces come to life.
See her work in person at the Open House Exhibit on Saturday, April 23 and get yourself or your friends/family some handmade glassware! 🤩

Got the opportunity to check out Southwestern University's senior art show a couple weeks ago. So much amazing talent. The body of work by .art were a few of the fabulous pieces that caught my eye.
Olivia beautifully integrates nature and the human form together in her dreamy and thought-provoking collection, "Biophilia." I look at these paintings and can't help but think - we truly are connected to nature. A longer look at each piece slowly reveals new anatomical structures that aren't as obvious or easily seen. Excellent work.

Alex was born in Austin, but because his dad was in the navy, he grew up all around the country. In fact, Alex served as an officer in the US Army as well. When he left the service in 1992, he moved back to Austin where he "talked his way into UT". He was also a chef and a web developer at one point in his life too! A man of many talents.
Alex was always interested in photography but didn't pursue it until around 2011.
"I prefer analog over digital. There’s something about the process that speaks to me. I like being forced to take things slower, to shoot less"
Alex primarily shoots in medium format using his Mamiya RB67 and tries to do everything himself in regards to producing his work…
"Not only do I shoot primarily with an analog camera, but I develop the film myself, scan it and process in Lightroom/Photoshop. I’m working on the processes to print myself using alternative processes like platinum & palladium, and cyanotype"
Comment which of these photos you like the best! And then come check out Alex's work at the Open House Exhibit on Saturday, April 23!
