There are many different ways to improve your FICO® Score:

Here are our "top 3":

*Pay bills on time: Late payments can significantly harm your FICO Score. So, make sure you pay all your bills on time, every time.

Check your credit report for errors: Errors on your credit report can hurt your FICO Score. So, check your credit report regularly, and dispute any errors you find.

*Reduce the amount of debt you owe: High credit card balances or debt can hurt your credit utilization rate, which is the amount of credit you're using compared to the amount of credit you have available. Aim to keep your credit utilization below 30%.

There are two different kinds of credit inquiries:

Hard inquiries – Hard credit inquiries, also known as “hard pulls”, occur when a lender or creditor checks your credit report to evaluate your creditworthiness during a credit application process. These inquiries may impact your FICO® Score, which considers how recently and how frequently you apply for credit.

Soft inquiries – Also known as “soft pulls”, these are reviews of your credit file, including reviews of existing accounts by lenders, prescreening inquiries by prospective lenders, and your requests for your annual credit report. These do not impact your FICO Score.
