This. Is. Not. Okay. It is not any providers around here, but I am seeing a trend on this theme happening more and more. Demand more, and better care, please. At the end of the day, it’s a business, trying to make money, and you are the customer. Don’t settle for someone that makes you sit down, shut up, and do as your told. That is the way abusers gain control. That is the way tyrannical dictators behave.

I will post later, but there is another obstetric practice saying you can’t hire a doula because it disrupts communication. And then a news report came out the same day that talked about how valuable doulas were in helping incarcerated pregnant women and what a value and important role doulas play including in increasing better outcomes.

When the medical/scientific community demands evidence, and there is SOLID evidence that doulas cost the taxpayer less, cost insurance less, and improve maternal and neonatal outcomes, and this evidence is rejected, there is a serious problem. The problem is not the doulas. The problem is not the birthing woman. The problem is not the birth plan. The problem is not the evidence.

We don't want your doula and we don't want you birth plan either.
But you know what we DO want??

We want you to....
**Quietly come to our facility during the hours M-F from 9-5.
**Take your clothes off and put on this institutionalized gown.
**Hold out your arm for your IV where we will inject medications to force contractions.
**Strap you to the bed with monitors.
**Bend over, and take your epidural.
**Blast the pitocin until your baby starts to fail.
**Race you to the OR for surgery.
Over the next 2 days we will poke and prod your baby, insist we feed them formula, feed you crappy food, then send you home with a little pat on your head and say, "Good girl!!"
