Ohio Launches Nation's First Statewide Drone First Responder Program 10/08/2025

As DroneXL.co notes, “This is the blueprint other states will follow. The question isn’t whether more states will replicate this model—it’s which one moves second.”

We're proud to serve as program manager for the nation’s first statewide Drone First Responder (DFR) program—led by the Ohio Department of Transportation and DriveOhio.

"Ohio just changed the game for drone first responder programs. While we’ve covered the explosive growth of municipal DFR systems throughout 2025—from Georgia Tech’s 90-second campus response to NYPD’s five-borough deployment—this statewide approach solves a problem those programs couldn’t: rural access."

SkyfireAI’s expertise in full-service DFR integration, FAA regulatory navigation, training, and AI-driven autonomy is helping bring this vision to life—creating a model that can be replicated across the country. https://dronexl.co/2025/10/08/ohio-statewide-drone-first-responder-program/

Matt Sloane Read the Entire FAA Part 108 NPRM So You Don’t Have To—Here’s What Actually Matters 08/08/2025

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) just opened the door for true AI-powered autonomy in the skies.

This week’s release of the proposed Part 108 BVLOS rule is more than a policy update—it’s the framework that could take drones from remote-controlled tools to autonomous, AI-driven mission partners.

Here’s the 60-second breakdown from our Co-Founder, Matt Sloane (who read all 700 pages so you don’t have to), and you can find the full text on DroneLife.

▪️ Corporate responsibility replaces individual certification. Training, safety, and compliance shift to the company level—allowing AI to standardize and scale operations.
▪️ Two paths: Permits vs. Certificates. Flexible options for both low-risk and high-complexity missions.
▪️ Meet the ADSP. Airspace Data Service Providers will feed real-time traffic and hazard data—critical for AI decision-making.
▪️ Human oversight, not hand-flying. Operators guide missions, while AI handles the micro-decisions that make BVLOS safe and efficient.

Why this matters:
For end users—more reliable, data-driven operations for public safety, defense, and infrastructure.
For investors—a clear regulatory path for scalable AI autonomy, accelerating market adoption and ROI.

FAA’s comment period is now open. The future of AI-enabled flight is being written—and SkyfireAI plans to help draft the next chapter.
