A flashlight company made radios?

Yes and Eveready is still around today! Founded in 1896 under the name of the American Electrical Novelty and Manufacturing Company, Eveready dabbled in many projects early in their journey before becoming known for batteries.

Their crowning achievement is being the first company to acquire manufacturing rights for cylindrical flashlights in the United States. With this new market came the production of batteries for their products. Eveready also expanded to making radios from the late 1920s into the late 50s and sold batteries to power them. One of such radios was this, the Model 2 radio receiver, from 1928.
