Simvana
We are always looking for ways to make virtual reality training more intuitive, accessible, and useful for healthcare professionals.
That is why we are excited to introduce a new microgesture input feature in SIMVANA Nursing!
With microgestures, users can control actions like teleporting and managing avatar conversations using simple hand gestures. The feature is designed to make navigation and interaction feel faster, smoother, and more natural while training in VR.
Microgestures are completely opt-in, so users can choose whether to enable the new control scheme or continue using the original controls.
This update is one more step in our ongoing effort to refine SIMVANA Nursing based on real-world use, user feedback, and the needs of healthcare educators and professionals.
Try out microgestures next time you are in SIMVANA Nursing!

We’re excited to see SIMVANA featured in a newly published Journal of Nurse Anesthesia Education (JNAE) methods paper on incorporating virtual reality into nurse anesthesia education. The paper outlines a real-world implementation process for VR integration in a nurse anesthesia program.
The authors evaluated options and selected SIMVANA Anesthesia as the best fit for their program, then implemented a phased rollout aligned to curriculum goals and faculty readiness.
The paper also highlights practical implementation details that matter to programs, from stakeholder engagement and pilot testing to equipment planning, physical space, and simulation operations. It also describes SIMVANA’s use on Meta Quest 2, 3, or 3s and how the educator portal supports assignment and progress monitoring for curriculum integration.

We’re proud to support nurse anesthesia programs working to scale experiential learning, strengthen clinical readiness, and align simulation with competency-based education.
If your program is exploring VR integration, we’d love to talk.
Incorporating Virtual Reality Simulation into Nurse Anesthesia Education: A Methods Paper | Published in Journal of Nurse Anesthesia Education By Katie Cole, Kelly Winter & 5 more. Clinical simulation is a vital component in nurse anesthesia education, supporting competency-based education. The implementation of virtual reality as an immersive technology is explored in one nurse anesthesia program.
New in SIMVANA Nursing: Refusal of Care.
This scenario gives nurses a safe, repeatable way to practice one of the hardest parts of patient care. When a patient refuses to follow instructions during a basic procedure. Learners must use therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to resolve the situation, explain the “why” behind the procedure, and complete care safely.
Watch the run-through to see how the scenario guides learners step-by-step, then challenges them to apply their own words and approach.
