Position Title: Food as Medicine Kitchen Project Specialist
Location: Huntington Central Kitchen
1648 8th Ave, Huntington WV 25702
Schedule: Morning shifts, flexible hours. Maximum 15 hours/week
Duration: June 2026 – September 2026 (13 weeks)
Compensation: $17.50/hour
Position Summary:
We’re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented dietetic student who can assist our team with Food as Medicine meal and grocery kit interventions. This student would gain experience and knowledge from our team of nutritional chefs and a registered dietitian. If you’re someone who enjoys working in a kitchen, cares about making healthy food more accessible to communities facing diet-related chronic conditions, and wants to be an integral part to these initiatives, we’d love to have you on board.
Key Responsibilities:
Place weekly orders for supplies/ingredients used in interventions
Prep, package, and label meal kit components for patients
Package and organize grocery kits for patients
Assist in reporting project funds spent
Help maintain an organized and up-to-date inventory
Contribute ideas to support the implementation of improved systems
Ideal Candidate:
Comfortable lifting up to 40 pounds
Has an eye for detail and can follow systems (or help build better ones)
Reliable, on time, and ready to pitch in where needed
Previous kitchen experience is a plus, but not required
Interest in Food as Medicine work and being an integral part to multiple research pilots

Join Project Healthy Kids and Refresh Appalachia for Local Foods Discovery Day at 10:30 AM at The Wild Ramp — a hands on food tasting adventure for kids of all ages!
Children will have the chance to:

✅ Learn about local farms and healthy eating
✅ Use their senses to discover flavors, textures, and colors

This position plays an important role in helping us deliver fresh, nutritious meals to childcare centers and community partners throughout the region. If you enjoy being on the road, working as part of a team, and making a direct impact on children’s health and well-being, we encourage you to apply.
Location: Huntington, WV
Schedule: Monday–Friday, morning to early afternoon hours. Occasional weekend availability may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Central Kitchen chefs and staff with daily operations
• Load prepared meals and food products into delivery vehicles
• Follow established delivery routes and schedules
• Deliver meals to childcare centers and partner sites
• Maintain a clean, safe, and fully fueled delivery vehicle
• Monitor vehicle upkeep and coordinate routine maintenance needs
Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license
• Good driving record
• Ability to pass a background check
• Must be eligible to work around children
• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
• Ability to safely lift and transport food deliveries
