Telling kids what TO DO vs NOT is so helpful!
They aren’t stuck trying to figure out what they can do, instead of simply “stopping” what they were doing.

Ex; kiddos running in the hallway, instead of telling them to “stop running” you take it as a teachable moment “remember it is safe to walk in the hallway”
There isn’t any pointing fingers, discussing if one was truly running or not, it’s just a safety reminder of what we can and should be doing.

In my school classroom, it supported my students in a similar. Simplified instructions, short and sweet positive sentences. No room for confusion.

I believe even adults can benefits from how we talk to one another. Using kind and encouraging words instead of taking each other down.

I also have a post about giving kids choices! Check it out.
