This was Xanti’s last video… taken just minutes before we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

As you can see, he was suffering.

Sweet Xanti, I fought for you with everything I had. I truly believed we could save you. I’m so sorry we couldn’t.

Please know you were deeply loved—not only by me, but by everyone at Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital. ❤️ They loved you just as much and did everything they could to help you.

Now run free, sweet boy. 🌈 No more oxygen kennel. No more pain. No more struggling to breathe. Just peace.

I will miss your sweet face, your tiny pointy ears, and seeing you every morning. A piece of my heart went with you today. 💔

🚨 UPDATE ON ZANTI – 8:06 A.M. 🚨

First, we want to say thank you to Dr. Rick and the team at Waterford Lakes Animal Hospital. ❤️ Despite our outstanding veterinary balance, they made an exception and agreed to see Zanti because of his long medical history with them.

Here is the update we have received:

The chest X-rays are showing congestion in the front (cranial) lung fields. At this time, the doctors believe it could be pneumonia again or fluid accumulation.

🙏 Zanti has already been placed in an oxygen kennel to help him breathe.

The doctors have also started Lasix to see if the congestion is related to fluid. If it is heart-related, the medication should help remove the excess fluid. If it turns out to be pneumonia, he will need to begin another course of antibiotics.

The good news is that Zanti does not have a fever, which is encouraging.

Our biggest concern is that if this is pneumonia again, we need to understand why this young kitten continues to develop lung problems. Zanti tested negative for FeLV/FIV when he first came into our rescue, but his repeated respiratory issues make us worry that he may have an underlying condition affecting his immune system or lungs.

Right now, all we can do is hope, pray, and give him every chance possible. We truly don’t know how much more this little fighter can handle, but we are not giving up on him.

His treatment, oxygen therapy, diagnostics, medications, and hospitalization will be expensive, and we urgently need your help.
