Reliant Equipment Rental

If you have equipment on your job that is owned or rented, please take precautions to protect it...with temperatures dipping below 30° over the next few days for an extended period, now’s the time to make sure your equipment (including generators) are truly winter-ready. A little prep now can prevent no-starts and downtime later.

*Drain the pumps/tanks on your water trailers, sweepers, etc and don't forget the valves as well...water left in pumps & lines can cause housings and valves to crack/break when they freeze. 🥶
*Batteries: Cold weather is tough on batteries. Check charge levels, connections, and overall condition so you’re not caught off guard. Check batteries and radiators to be sure that units have water and antifreeze in them as applicable. You don't want to pay for a service call due to failure to prepare. 💧
*Fluids & coolant: Confirm oil viscosity and coolant mixtures are appropriate for freezing temperatures to protect the engine. 🛢️
*Exercise generators: Run the unit under load periodically to confirm everything is operating as expected before you actually need it. ⚡
*Visual inspections: Look for leaks, cracked hoses, loose connections, or anything that cold temps could make worse. ❄️
*Leave heat on in your interior spaces to protect your pipes and any equipment indoors. 🔥
*Block heaters: Keep engine fluids warm to support reliable cold starts and reduce wear—especially for generators that sit idle. Use extension cords that are 50' or less, 12 ga. or better to plug in block heaters on units equipped with block heaters. ☀️
*Be sure any units that can be moved indoors for the worst of the freeze are moved. If you can't bring it indoors or shelter the units, or it doesn't have a block heater, consider pulling the battery/batteries and bringing those indoors. 😊
