We’re building legacies rooted in research and story—through policy, education, and economic empowerment.

At Table SALT Group, we think a lot about the word “legacy.”

Not just what we want to leave behind…
but whether we actually know how to protect and sustain what we build.

After several recent conversations with entrepreneurs, families, and community members, one thing became very clear:

Many people desire legacy.
Few people were ever taught how to build it practically.

That realization inspired our newest article and case study focused on:
🏡 heir property
📚 Black Wall Street
🔑 ownership and succession
🤝 community sustainability
📈 and the systems required to protect generational assets

Too often, families inherit land, businesses, and opportunities without inheriting:

structure,
documentation,
succession plans,
or a shared understanding of how to preserve them.

And over time, what was meant to create stability can slowly become vulnerable.

This conversation is deeply connected to the research behind Black to the Future and the work we continue to lead through the LEGACY Framework at Table SALT Group.

Because legacy is bigger than wealth.

Legacy is:

what we teach,
what we protect,
what we organize,
and what can continue working after we are no longer here.

We're excited to share this article because we believe these are conversations more families and communities need to have now — not later.

One of the most meaningful moments for us at the RetieCollection Pop-Up Showcase, hosted by our friends, Ardenna Hardy and Yolanda Shanks was asking people a simple question:

✨ “What does legacy mean to you?” ✨

Almost everyone gave a similar answer:
“To leave something for the next generation.”

Hi I'm Dr. LaRachelle Smith co-founder of Table SALT Group and I have to say, that answer stayed with me.

Because while many of us desire legacy, many of us were never taught how to build it intentionally.

That is one of the reasons I co-authored Black to the Future with Dr. William Turner and why Table SALT Group developed the LEGACY Framework based on the historical lessons of Black Wall Street in Tulsa’s Greenwood District.

Black Wall Street was more than a successful business district. It was an ecosystem built on:
📚 Learning
🔑 Access
💵 Group Economics
📣 Advocacy
🤝 Collective Care
📈 Yield (measurable outcomes)

Legacy is not just about ownership.
It’s about structure.
It’s about sustainability.
It’s about creating systems that continue beyond us.

At Table SALT Group, we help entrepreneurs and organizations think more intentionally about:

what they are building,
how they are building it,
and whether it can truly be sustained and transferred over time.

Seeing community members proudly holding signs that said:
🖤 “I Am Black to the Future LEGACY” 🖤

was a reminder that these conversations matter.

Legacy is not automatic.

It is built through intentional action, shared knowledge, and community-centered strategy.

And that is the work.

Special thanks for my friends from PeopleFund for believing in our work.

So…apparently I’m bringing my “meet the author” and Table SALT Group co-Founder energy to the pop-up 😄📚

That's me, Dr. LaRachelle Smith and I’ll be at the RetieCollection Pop-Up Showcase Experience, hosted by Ardenna Hardy and Yolanda Shanks, on Saturday, May 16—and yes, I’ll have signed copies of Black to the Future: Lessons from Black Wall Street with me.

So you can:
✨ come out and support
✨ connect with some amazing businesses
✨ enjoy the experience
✨ and maybe leave with a signed book while you’re at it

If you stop by my table, we’ll probably end up having a real conversation about:

your business (or your idea)
what’s been working…and what hasn’t
and how to think differently about building something that actually lasts

Nothing formal. Just good energy, good people, and meaningful conversation.

And if you’ve been meaning to get the book—this is your chance to grab a signed copy in person 💛
