ABBOTT ORDERS TEXAS COLLEGES TO KEEP TUITION FROZEN

◾️State expands financial aid while pushing to extend tuition freeze beyond 2027.

Greg Abbott has directed all Texas public colleges and universities to freeze undergraduate tuition and fees for the 2026–2027 academic year. Backed by hundreds of millions in state funding and expanded financial aid, the move aims to ease student costs as Abbott prepares to work with lawmakers to extend the tuition freeze into future years.

Texas Southern University announces the departure of Head Men’s Basketball Coach Johnny Jones, who will be returning to his alma mater, Louisiana State University, to continue his distinguished coaching career as an assistant coach.

Coach Jones spent eight seasons at the helm of Texas Southern’s basketball program, becoming the 3rd winningest coach in the program's history.

Commencement Update! There are now two ceremonies.

The 9:00 a.m. ceremony will include the Jesse H. Jones School of Business, Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and the College of Education.

The 2:00 p.m. ceremony will include the College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences, College of Transdisciplinary Studies, School of Communication, Joan M. LaFleur College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, and the College of Science, Engineering and Technology.

More details regarding the increased ticket allotment and graduation speakers will be shared in the coming days. Go Tigers!
