Did you ever wonder why your lights turn on and off a few times during a storm? They're called reclosers. In essence they are just circuit breakers that can open and close very fast while qualifying a fault to be permanent or transient. After 3 trips if there is a permanent fault like lighting and a line down, the recloser trips and your power goes out, and if the fault is like an animal that went across the lines and it just burns up the animal and doesn't effect the line then the recloser stays on after clearing the fault. Reclosers are primarily pole mount but sometimes in padmount enclosures... The are 15kV, 27kV and 38kV. Thats 15, 27 and 38000 Volts
