In the year of 1972 twelve people met at the home of Sis. Williams. There they organized the Starlight MBC under the leadership of Rev. George T. Hutchinson. After that meeting they decided to have service at the Lodge Hall on Bennington Street. The service lasted there for about two years. Then the Lord blessed them to purchase this property here at 7101 Laura Koppe. The purchase loan was for sev
en years but through hard work and perseverance and dedicated members the loan was paid out in six years. The building needed a lot of repairs but Rev. Hutchinson said this is where the Lord wanted them to be. Many hours of works were done and after a few years there were add-ons to the church. The add-ons included Pastor Study, Finance Room, Choir Room and Baptism Pool. After the Lord called Pastor Hutchinson home on January 7, 1993 - the late Rev. Larry Solomon was called. Rev. Solomon served for three years and under his leadership the corner stone was laid. Afterwards his resignation the church was without a pastor for a while but continue to pray that God would send us a man of God. And in November 1997 Rev. Jerry L. Williams was called to pastor. Williams came in working with the chairmen of the deacon board Dea. Arthur Watkins, trying to get things done for the uplifting and ongoing of the church. Williams came in working in the pastoral role and contributed time, energy & finance in the structural of the church building. The Lord called Dea. Watkins home on June 10, 2005. Dea. Leslie Jefferson was appointed chairmen of the deacon board. The church has had many up and downs but through it all God has kept us. We are standing on Holy ground lifting up the name of Jesus knowing that in the end victory will be ours and we will look back and know how we got over. May the Lord bless and keep you.
