Since our last Countdown event at POST, our region's climate challenges have only escalated. From rising energy costs to water crises to extreme weather to the air our kids breathe right here in Houston, we must develop new solutions to build a better Houston. Together.

TEDxHouston COUNTDOWN connects the world's most powerful platform for ideas to our city — spotlighting local voices and stories with global stakes and potential solutions that will change the way you see what's possible.

This year, we are excited to bring TEDxHouston to the Ismaili Center — the first such center in the United States. Designed with sustainable architecture practices, the Center is positioned as a place of dialogue, learning, and connection, welcoming people of all backgrounds to celebrate the arts, engage in cultural exchange, and build bridges across communities.

Since 2020, COUNTDOWN, powered by TED and Leaders’ Quest, has mobilized the world’s boldest problem-solvers to address climate impacts being felt across communities everywhere. Our mission is to accelerate action by inspiring people through compelling storytelling, identifying and scaling high-impact solutions, and building collaborative community that unites people across sectors and regions.

We can't wait to welcome you to a full day of centering and framing activities, civic engagement workshops, peer connections, and, of course, Ideas Worth Spreading. I hope to see you on Saturday, May 23, at the Ismaili Center!

Friday, September 5th is the kickoff from 12-4 PM at The Ion. Professionals and students of all skillsets are welcome to participate!

There will be an open mic for pitching challenges in our city, and then teams will form based on the challenge you want to help solve/hack!
