When you look at financial aid, you want as much aid as possible, this means money that you never have to pay back.

Here is the difference between the two main types:

Grants: This is usually need-based money given to you based on your family’s financial situation. It comes from the government or the college itself.

Scholarships: This is merit-based money awarded for your grades, test scores, talents, sports, or unique background.
