🚨 BREAKING: 16-YEAR-OLD DEAD IN APPARENT ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING IN THE WOODLANDS 🚨

A 16-year-old boy is dead following what investigators believe was an accidental shooting inside a home in The Woodlands early Thursday morning.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a residence on Redberry Court shortly after 4:00 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When first responders arrived, they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators say a 17-year-old sibling and a 19-year-old friend were also inside the home at the time of the incident. Preliminary information indicates the shooting appears to have been accidental, and authorities say there is no threat to the public.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case will be reviewed by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office to determine whether any charges are warranted.

The identity of the teen has not yet been released.
