Most electrical failures are not sudden. They are progressive involving insulation breakdown, connection degradation, protection settings that were never fully validated.

That’s why testing and maintenance strategies matter. At LND Technical Services, our approach focuses on:
✅ Verification of protection schemes and coordination
✅ Commissioning of control systems and SCADA interfaces
✅ Routine and condition-based maintenance for electrical assets

In high- and medium-voltage environments, unaddressed risks can escalate quickly into outages, equipment damage, or safety events. This is why failure prevention measures needs to be engineered into every step.

If your operation depends on uptime, working with a team that identifies risks early can make all the difference. Reach out to our team today to learn how we can support you on your next project 💯

Being a Project Manager is not just about tracking tasks or following timelines.
It’s about balancing people, pressure, and performance. At LND Technical Services, we believe a strong PM needs more than just technical knowledge.

Here are a few key skills that truly make the difference:

🔹 Communication: Clear communication keeps everyone aligned - from team members to clients.

🔹 Planning & Organization: A good plan doesn’t just guide the project, it prevents chaos before it even starts.

🔹 Problem-solving: Challenges are part of every project. The key is staying calm and finding solutions quickly.

🔹 Time Management: Knowing what to prioritize (and when) can make or break a project.

🔹 Leadership: A great PM doesn’t just manage tasks - they inspire and support the team.

🔹 Adaptability: No project goes exactly as planned. Being flexible is essential.

At the end of the day, Project Management is about delivering it together, and the right way. Which skill do you think is the most important for a PM? 👇

Capacitor banks are commonly installed in substations to improve power quality by boosting voltage levels and reducing losses on the network. Because they store and release electrical energy, they must be protected carefully to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Why Protection Is Needed?
1️⃣ Prevent equipment damage: Capacitor units can fail due to overvoltage, overheating, or internal faults.

2️⃣ Maintain system stability: A failed capacitor can cause voltage dips or unbalanced conditions.

3️⃣ Ensure personnel safety: Proper protection helps isolate faults and prevents hazardous situations.

Common Protection Methods
✔️ Overcurrent / Short-circuit protection: Disconnects the capacitor bank when excessive current flows.

✔️ Unbalance protection: Detects differences between capacitor phases, which may indicate a failed unit.

✔️ Overvoltage protection: Protects the bank from temporary voltage surges on the grid.

✔️ Temperature monitoring: Ensures the bank doesn’t overheat due to system loading or environmental conditions.

Benefits
✅ Longer equipment life
✅ Improved power quality
✅ Enhanced reliability of the electrical network
✅ Safer operation for maintenance teams

In solar farm grid integration, voltage control is not just a setting - it’s a dynamic challenge. Especially when transformers are equipped with On-Load Tap Changers (OLTC) and advanced controllers like Beckwith.

Study Approach:
- Built a detailed ETAP model including PV generation, inverters, and grid interconnection.
- Configured transformer OLTC (tap changer) with proper tap limits and step sizes.
- Applied Beckwith control logic for automatic voltage regulation at the POI.
- Simulated multiple operating scenarios.
- Evaluated voltage profile, reactive power, and tap operation behavior.

Key Insights:
- OLTC acts as the primary voltage regulator at the grid interface.
- Proper coordination with controller settings avoids over-tapping and instability.
- Fine-tuning deadband and delay improves performance and equipment life.

What LNDTS delivers beyond simulation:
- Power System Studies (ETAP-based analysis & validation)
- Protection & Control Design (including OLTC coordination)
- Testing & Commissioning (ensuring real-world performance)
- Operation & Maintenance (long-term reliability & optimization)

Combining accurate ETAP studies with well-configured OLTC and control systems ensures stable voltage, grid compliance, and reliable solar farm operation - both in design and in the field.

Arc flash hazards remain one of the most serious risks in electrical systems, but managing that risk requires more than just calculations. At LNDTS, we combine Arc Flash Analysis with Infrared (IR) Scanning to deliver a complete, proactive safety solution.

Arc Flash Analysis helps us understand the potential severity of an incident: evaluating fault currents, protection timing, and incident energy levels to ensure compliance and proper PPE selection.

IR Scanning takes it a step further: identifying real-world issues like loose connections, overloads, and equipment deterioration before they lead to failure.

Why does this matter? Arc flash studies assume a healthy system, but IR scanning verifies actual conditions in the field. By integrating both, we don’t just prepare for hazards - we help prevent them.

✔ Reduce unplanned outages
✔ Improve system reliability
✔ Enhance worker safety
✔ Stay compliant with industry standards

At the end of the day, electrical safety is about eliminating them before they happen. Let’s build safer, smarter power systems together ⚡
