A T-astragal, often just referred to as an astragal, is a molded strip attached to the meeting edge of double, or French, doors.
Shaped like a "T" when viewed in cross-section, it covers the center gap, prevents the doors from swinging through each other, and provides a surface for the active door to latch against.
