Basking in this gorgeous, feminine color palette as I wrap up my workday a bit early. 😍
Today is my 34th trip around the 🌞 sun! This last year has given me a lot of perspective on what is truly important in life.
✨ Hugs from family and game nights with friends brought to you by vaccines have been SO LIFE-GIVING in recent weeks.
✨ Prioritizing deep work on my mental and physical health over showing up on the gram (oh, hi!) has given me the balance I've been craving for so long.
✨ Learning, unlearning, researching, supporting, and being an imperfect ally for communities who face generational discrimination and biases purely for being who they are. I always want to be a safe space for all of the amazing humans in our world 🖤
✨ And finally, giving myself permission to create much-needed boundaries that protect my time, my priorities, my relationships, and my energy.
Sending y'all lots of love and sunshine on this glorious Thursday! I'm grateful we're on this life journey together 😎

Man, what a difference a week can make (plus 65-degree weather!) 🌞
Sunday - Friday of last week, we, like many Texans, were without power and water. ❄️ And y'all, it was COLD in our house after 52 hours without heat.
The roads were icy and the ERCOT power grid was not prepared to handle the surge in demand from the impending snowstorm. We know how to prep for hurricanes but snow? ...
As I sit at my desk today prepping to speak at a zoom event with many fellow Houstonians, I'm reminded of how resilient, kind, and supportive our community is in times of need. 🤟
Neighbors showing up at 2 AM to help shut off water mains, cleaning up damp drywall, opening up their homes (during COVID!) to anyone who needs a warm shower.
This past year that shall not be named 👀 felt incredibly isolating, dividing, and - dare I say it - like one giant unprecedented event after another.
The snowstorm this past week was nothing short of the same, but with physical damage happening all around us, neighbors and friends rallied together to do what they could with what they had.
I'm sharing this as a reminder to myself and anyone who needs to hear it - we may not often see the PHYSICAL toll of the pandemic as much as we do after a giant storm, but our community needs us to show up however we can, whenever we can.
It makes one hell of a difference to those who are in the thick of this battle 🖤

Are you easing into this first Monday of the new year? After taking some time off to recharge, I'm diving back into the logo design phase for two brands this week. 🤩
That means the caffeine and T-swift jams are flowing, my Illustrator artboards are lookin' a bit cray, and I've got my new favorite candle blazing (one that we're developing for our candle company!)
I hope that with the new year you're feeling cautiously optimistic like I am. Promise yourself that you won't take on 10 million giant goals just because the calendar turned a page, okay?
Stay focused on your why - why you're showing up, why what you do matters, why others should care, why you're helping people achieve XYZ.
Your WHY will always lead you towards that next step to take 🖤
P.S. here's one of my favorite color studies from last year's rebrand with 🍊 - congrats on opening your new, gorgeous office today! 🥳

It's officially launch day for ! 🍊 ⠀
⠀
After signing the lease on a beautiful new office space, it was the perfect time to reassess what branding elements were still serving them after serving their community for the past several years. ⠀
⠀
We kept their original color palette and created a beachy, welcoming new brand identity that builds on the trust they've built with the families they serve in Pensacola. ⠀
⠀
While Dr. Neil and Allie focus on the dental health of children and teens, they wanted to create a coastal-casual aesthetic for their new brand and interior space that would make both their patients and their parents feel completely at home while visiting their office. ⠀
⠀
No southern brand would be complete without a fabulous monogram, and I right? 🥰 🌴 (Swipe to check it out!)⠀

Standing out from the crowd starts with doing things a little differently than what everyone else is doing 😍⠀
⠀
Sounds easy enough, right? Here are 5 of my all-time favorite resources to tap into when you're ready to switch things up a bit. ⠀
⠀
➕⠀
Instead of just relying on Pinterest, check out ! 👩🏻💻 Designers across all mediums share in-progress work and final projects on Dribbble long before they land on Pinterest (if they ever do!), plus you're not going to see the same generic logos or design styles over and over again here. ⠀
⠀
➕⠀
Start investing in high-quality typefaces! ⚡️Free fonts are only going to take your brand so far since they are literally available to everyone and their mama. Purchasing typefaces from or directly from a type foundry will help set your visuals apart.⠀
⠀
➕⠀
The same idea can be applied to those pre-made logo templates that people sell over and over again. 😬When you're ready to invest in a refreshed brand identity, hire a designer who values strategy AND design. You deserve a look that captivates your dream clients and sets you apart from the crowd (finally!)⠀
⠀
➕⠀
Start building a relationship with a local print shop! 🥳 I know online printers are fast and cheap, but they aren't always good. (There's no such thing as achieving this trifecta anyway!) Local printers can work within your budget and care about your business goals!⠀
⠀
➕⠀
And lastly, I'm ALL for University of YouTube if I'm searching for a quick solution on a specific problem. But if you're wanting to deep dive into learning a new skill for your business, has amazing comprehensive courses that cover everything from marketing 101 to coding on Squarespace. I bought myself a membership earlier this year and I'm hooked! 👏🏻

Monogram logos are some of my favorite ones to create! ⠀
⠀
They are designed to complement your main logo and represent your brand without having to spell out your whole business name. ⠀
⠀
Some of the best ways to incorporate these marks into your visuals include:⠀
⠀
✖️ social media profile images⠀
✖️ accent on packaging and stationery⠀
✖️ branded invoices⠀
✖️ stickers and swag⠀
✖️ client gifts, like custom cookies during the holidays⠀
⠀
This monogram was created for my dear friend Craig at WoodRock Homes, a luxury home builder in Houston, Texas. ⠀
⠀
My favorite part is that super extended letter H that visually separates the W and R. 😍⠀
