Leja Bulela, Inc is a non-profit organization created in 1993 in Detroit, Michigan by members of the Congolese Diaspora living throughout the United States, along with committed friends. We initiate projects in Kasai Oriental, teach our American-born children about Luba history, and we advocate for the fulfillment of human and economic rights in Congo. The majority of Leja Bulela members were born

We’re excited to share that the Leja Bulela Annual Conference returns June 26–28, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio, with the theme “The Heart of Africa.”

On October 22nd, Gilligan’s Brewery in Cincinnati is doing what they do best: pouring pints and making memories. But this time, 10% of every sale is heading straight to Leja Bulela to help build a new maternity ward at the Kalala Muzeu Health Center in Congo.
