Supply chain problems are reaching every facet of our lives - even auto insurance claims. Historically, we would simply take our car to the body shop for repair and grab a rental car in the process. However, rental car coverage is usually capped at 30 days, and with auto parts availability becoming a problem, 30 days is not long enough. Car repairs are taking 90 days and longer due to parts not being available. So, if you are involved in an auto accident and your car needs repair, make sure the parts are available before jumping into a rental car. In the past few months, I have seen rental car bills in excess of $4,000 which can be financially devastating. If your car is drivable, drive it until the parts have arrived at the body shop.
