GISO was started with ONE primary motive - "Help Indian students at the University of Houston to feel at home". GISO was started 20 years back and has now grown to become the umbrella organization of the Indian Community at the University of Houston. It is the oldest and the largest Indian organization at the University. Any Indian student at the University of Houston can become a member of GISO.

Greetings to the students at the University of Houston from GISO. We are elated to have you here, representing India and bringing a multitude of experiences and perspectives to our community. GISO is planning to do an Independence Day celebrations tomorrow evening at 6pm
At the Bridge between the Student centre south and student centre north.
