I debated whether to share this hidden gem because I don’t want it getting too busy, but Ishin Udon is too good to keep to myself! 😋 It’s one of the only spots in Houston specializing in udon—thick, bouncy Japanese noodles made from wheat flour, water, and salt. I started with their takoyaki—crispy octopus-filled batter balls with a gooey inside and topped with crispy bonito flakes. 🐙🔥 For the main dish, I went all in with their spicy tan tan udon: spicy minced pork, crushed peanut, sesame, pickle, and scallion. And yes, it packs a punch! 💥🔥 The noodles were thick, chewy, and perfect for the cooler weather coming up. Total bill: $24 after tip and tax.
