National Public Data, is a data broker company that performs employee background checks and has a massive database of sensitive information on US citizens. They were hacked starting in December 2023.

The best protection for now is to FREEZE your credit. Credit monitoring is good but more reactive when a credit freeze is proactive.
There are 3 companies that a credit freeze needs to be placed on
-Trans Union
-Experian
-Equifax.
