He became interested in writing during his service as a Navy Corpsman during the Iraqi War. Maintaining a journal during the war inspired him to start writing short stories. His first book, Urban World, is a collection of those short stories. Williams' second book is Freedom is Not Free. Frederick Williams is originally from Montgomery, Alabama. After returning from the war he attended Alabama State University where he graduated in 2008. He currently resides in Houston, Texas.
