Warrior Wednesday: Marlee 💗🎗️

For years, Marlee has shown us what it means to keep fighting.

After being diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2021, Marlee has endured countless treatments, long hospital stays, and more challenges than any child should ever face, including moving away from her home and family in Midland to be closer to treatment. Earlier this year, she received the heartbreaking news that her cancer had relapsed once again.

We were heartbroken to hear the news and knew we wanted to do something special for Marlee. So in true Sky High fashion we surprised her - waking her up to puppy kisses and her new best friend, Daisy. Since that moment, the two have been inseparable and have been walking through this journey side by side. 🐾

If you've ever met had the pleasure of meeting Marlee, you know her light shines far beyond her diagnosis. She continues to inspire everyone around her with the way she faces each day, and we're honored to walk alongside her journey.

🌟 Volunteer of the Month: Rachel Hutyra 🌟

This month, we're celebrating Rachel Hutyra for the countless hours she spends behind the scenes handwriting thank-you cards and supporting administrative projects that help advance our mission.

When asked why she volunteers with Sky High for Kids, Rachel shared:
"I volunteer with Sky High because I am inspired by their dedication to help children and families facing pediatric cancer. Their mission demonstrates the power of community and how coming together can change the lives of so many. For me, the most invaluable part of SHFK is the tangible love, faith, determination and commitment in all they do."

Rachel also shared that one of her favorite Sky High initiatives is Sunday Supper and the story behind how it began!

Cancer Warrior Wednesday: Meet Abril 💙

At just 7 years old, Abril was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) with approximately 96% leukemic blasts in her bone marrow. Since then, she has endured countless hospital visits, painful treatments, losing her hair, and months away from normal childhood moments yet through it all, Abril continued to fight with positivity.

"It’s okay, Mom. I know God has a plan and He is taking care of me.” While there were moments of sadness, and tears of fear and frustration, she continued to face everything with courage and trust in God.

By the grace of God, on March 27, her biopsy showed zero cancer cells. While she still has treatment ahead, Abril is determined to finish strong - with a smile on her face and faith in her heart.
