Breaking News: Supreme Court Reaffirms Birthright Citizenship Under the 14th Amendment

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court reaffirmed the longstanding interpretation of the 14th Amendment's Citizenship Clause, holding that individuals born in the United States are U.S. citizens at birth, with only limited exceptions.

The Court rejected President Donald Trump's executive order that sought to deny automatic U.S. citizenship to children born in the United States to parents who are unlawfully present or in the country on temporary visas. Because lower federal courts had previously blocked the order, it never took effect.

As a result of today's decision, the legal framework governing birthright citizenship remains unchanged.
