Widely recognized in Houston for his pioneering role in shaping drum & bass, Roni Size is the founder of the Mercury Prize–winning collective Roni Size & Reprazent and is celebrated worldwide for fusing breakbeats with jazz, funk, and hip-hop. This night marks a rare chance for Houston’s drum & bass community to experience one of electronic music’s most influential artists live.

For this night, we’ve carefully curated a local support lineup featuring DJs from each of Houston’s long-standing Drum & Bass crews. There’s no better way to celebrate this special night than with the very artists and collectives who have kept the city’s scene alive and thriving.

Before my show, I had the chance to do the soundcheck at fabric. I’ve always admired the sound system there, so getting a behind-the-scenes look at how it’s prepped was a great experience. Mikey, the sound engineer, walked me through the full turntable setup, making sure everything could handle the room: no skipping, no feedback, just pure, powerful sound. Thanks to @fabriclondonofficial and Mikey for the lessons!
