Designing for the people who spend all day there.
In traditional clinic layouts, nurses and medical staff are often relegated to the dark, interior core of the building. For the UT Physicians Pediatric Multispecialty Clinic, we flipped the script. We moved almost all of the nurses' stations to the perimeter glass, flooding their workspaces with natural light all day long.
We also moved providers out of isolated private offices and into open workspaces immediately adjacent to the nurses to foster communication and teamwork.

In this walkthrough, we explore the 23,000-square-foot UT Physicians Pediatric Multispecialty Clinic we delivered. By utilizing strategic space planning, like placing the nurses' stations on the perimeter for natural light, we maximized the efficiency of the entire floor plan.
The result? A highly functional space that is enjoyable for both patients and staff.
