The Challenge of Believing God is Good

One of the most basic teachings in Unity and New Thought is the spiritual principle that "God is Good!" At times, every one of us can be challenged to believe this, with any degree of conviction, while living in and experiencing this physical/material world.

In this world, we can hardly keep from having many worrisome, frightening, even catastrophic things enter our awareness and surely cannot label them as "good." I'm referring to the hundreds of fires, past and present, in the U.S., Canada, and elsewhere, the droughts, the flooding, hurricanes, and tornadoes. These are related to the weather, but additionally, there is the war in Ukraine, crime, political conflicts, and false information that has divided our country and its people. Of course, there are also the personal challenges of health, finances, and relationships, which many encounter.

Forgive me for bringing these to your awareness so I can make a point. And that is, although the spiritual principle, and truth, is that "God Is Good", it does NOT MEAN that all humanity and individuals are ready to or being forced to express the True Nature of God and Good, even though it is their core essence. We are unfinished in our inner work and becoming a shining Light for God.

Humanity has been given choice, and free will and is still learning and growing.

I try to remind myself that on this plane of existence people, including myself, are working out their issues, learning things that need correcting, healing their separation consciousness, and awakening to new and higher states of being. We are all attending this life school on earth and for some, it is slow going. Many are failing their life tests, and few are close to graduating. Thankfully, there are many who are making great progress and allowing their light and love to shine. All levels of consciousness are reflected in our world of today as well as its history.

I try to remind myself that the Master's teaching was to BE in the world, but NOT OF the world... that "this too shall pass", and that my role is to RISE ABOVE APPEARANCES, for they are temporal.

Being lured into negative or frightening thoughts with regard to appearances is a rut the mind can easily fall into. The challenge we are given is to strengthen the spiritual muscle that has the ability to hold onto the truth regardless of appearances.

WE AREN'T TO DENY that there are conditions of less than good in the world but to respond from an inner, spiritual strength linked to Truth rather than crater and crumble under the conditions. And Yes, do rise up to bless and pray for good to emerge in circumstances for yourself and all people.

It feels so much better in our body when we know in our consciousness that regardless of appearances, this moment something good is trying to find its way into our life and all lives. That whatever the circumstances, there is something to learn in this very hour. Some shift in our thinking and perspective is always calling to us from the Voice of Spirit within.

In Truth, the good you seek is seeking you. Where the mind goes, energy flows. Let your mind gravitate to the good. And good will be drawn magnetically to you. Because, the Truth is, GOD IS GOOD, and SO ARE YOU! May we all be a vehicle of God's Good on the Highway of Life.
