Honest answer: it depends on your household — not on a timeline someone else gives you. I've had clients see real movement in 30–45 days. Others take 6 months to a year.

Paying off a collection does NOT remove it from your report.

Myth: Paying off a collection removes it from your credit report.

Fact: Paying it updates the status to 'paid collection,’ but it stays on your report for up to 7 years from the original delinquency date.

Does that mean you should not pay it? Not necessarily. But strategy matters. Before you make any payments on collections, talk to someone who knows what they are doing. One wrong move can reset the clock.
