📣 "Speaking club" with an American colleague: we are announcing an exciting opportunity for our members to improve their English language skills and share experiences.

We have received many requests from you for English practice activities and speaking clubs that will help improve your foreign language communication skills. So now we have something very interesting😌 for you

#АнонсПодії: On March 6, 13 and 20, Kyiv will host three cool meetings in the "speaking club" format with our American colleague from the Houston Police Department and UAWLE member Michael Bates.

Next Wednesday, March 6, we will take the time to get acquainted. Therefore, please prepare a brief overview of your experience and current role.

In the discussion, we will discuss various aspects of our professional activities, exchange views on what brings pleasure in work and what could be improved, as well as talk about the vision of the future of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies in 5 years.

💬 More about our guest:
Michael Bates began his career 23 years ago as a patrol officer, later served as a patrol mentor, cadet instructor at the Houston Police Academy, and currently serves in the Special Response Team as a police officer and instructor. Michael started working in Ukraine from the very beginning of the Patrol Police Department as part of a team of instructors who trained TOR several times a year, and he continues to visit Ukraine on his own even during the war.

ABANDONED ANIMALS OF UKRAINE.
A female officer working for patrol police in Ukraine has taken on the responsibility of caring for the animals that the patrol police officers find during their searches of abandoned buildings or territories destroyed by the war. The majority of the animals are able to be placed with large animal rescue organizations but an unlucky few are not taken. This is when the Daria Vasylieva steps in. She provides food, shelter and arranges medical care for all the unwanted animals. She asks for and receives some donations from the patrol police officers but unfortunately it is never enough to cover all of the costs. The medical bills continue to grow. She remains steadfast in her care for the animals and works daily to make sure they have food and companionship.

Michael has made many trips to the Ukraine that he has personally funded and has been working closely with the first responders in the Ukraine. He pointed out that although we may be serving communities 6,000 miles apart, most of our daily challenges remain the same.
