The fabrics you wear every single day matter more than most people realize. Your clothes sit on your skin for hours, hold heat and sweat, and become part of your environment just like the products you use at home.

A lot of modern clothing is made with synthetic fabrics like polyester, nylon, acrylic, and spandex which are basically plastic-based fibers. These materials can trap heat and bacteria, shed microplastics, hold onto odors, and are often treated with chemical finishes during production.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve become more intentional about choosing natural fabrics whenever I can. Materials like cotton, linen, h**p, wool, and silk tend to breathe better, regulate temperature more naturally, and feel noticeably different on the skin.

You definitely don’t need to throw your whole closet away overnight. I always say start with the pieces closest to your body first like underwear, sleepwear, workout clothes, towels, and baby clothing.

Small swaps over time still make a difference!

“Can you at least open the window?”😭

Not me sitting there trying to act normal while my brain is like… I know what’s in that fragrance cloud.

A lot of perfumes and scented products can contain phthalates, which are endocrine-disrupting chemicals that may interfere with hormone function. And it’s not just perfume —synthetic fragrance can show up in candles, air fresheners, skincare, hair products, and cleaning supplies too.

I’m not saying you can never enjoy scents again, but it’s worth being picky about what you’re breathing in every day.

There are cleaner fragrance options out there now that still smell amazing without all the mystery ingredients. Many are made with natural scent sources like essential oils, so you can enjoy a nice-smelling space without the same hidden concerns.

Once you know, you really can’t un-know it😅

I used to think shampoo bars were just “eco swaps”… but they’re honestly such a good low-tox switch!

Most conventional shampoos can come with synthetic fragrance, sulfates, silicones, and other ingredients I’d rather not keep using on my scalp every week.

Shampoo bars are usually more minimal, lower-waste, and still get the job done without all the extra junk.

These are a few clean options worth trying if you’re ready to simplify your hair routine 🌿

Have you tried a shampoo bar yet?
