1990 Leaf Sammy Sosa ⚾️
-
Sammy became the fifth player in Major League history to reach 600 career home runs and is the only player to hit 60 or more home runs in a single season three times, including 66 in 1998. That season, he and Mark McGwire shared the national spotlight as they pursued Roger Maris’ single-season home run record.
If you haven’t already, watch Long Gone Summer, as it documents that season. No critic from me on whether it was good or bad, I did enjoy it a lot, however I do wish it went deeper into PED’s.
The Texas Rangers picked Sosa in 1985 as an amateur free agent. He briefly played with the team in 1989 before being traded to the Chicago White Sox (1989-1991). He gained his greatest celebrity with the Chicago Cubs (1992-2004), becoming the Cubs' first 30-30 player in club history. The right fielder finished his career with brief stints with the Baltimore Orioles (2005) and a return to the Texas Rangers (2007). A seven-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger Award winner, Sosa was also the 1998 National League MVP. He ended his career with a .273 batting average, 2,408 hits, 1,667 RBI, and 609 home runs.

1994 Stadium Club Grant Hill 🏀
-
Grant is the son of the NFL’s 1969 Offensive Rookie of the Year, Calvin Hill.
The Detroit Pistons took Grant with the third overall pick of the 1994 NBA Draft. Hill became the first Piston rookie since Isiah Thomas to score 1,000 points and was named the NBA’s co-Rookie of the Year with Dallas Maverick Jason Kidd. Grant also became the first rookie in the NBA, as well as all of the major sports to lead all players in All-Star voting.
From 1995-1999, Grant Hill became the third player in NBA history to lead his team in scoring, rebounds and assists twice (Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor), and he and Chamberlain are the only two to do it three times.
After scoring 9,393 points, 3,417 rebounds and 2,720 assists, Grant joined Larry Bird, Oscar Robertson and LeBron James to amass those numbers. Hill played 18 years in the NBA with the Pistons (1994-2000), the Orlando Magic (2000-2007), the Phoenix Suns (2007-2012) and the Los Angeles Clippers (2012-13) and led the Suns to the Western Conference Finals in 2009-10. Grant struggled through injuries playing forward, but still earned seven NBA All-Star Game selections and was named to the NBA All-NBA First Team once (1997) or Second Team four times (1996, 1998-2000). Retiring after the 2012-13 season, Grant Hill amassed 17,137 points, 6,169 total rebounds, 4,252 assists and 1,248 steals in 1,026 games. Hill averaged 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Internationally, Grant won gold medals in the 1990 Montevideo FIBA Americas U18 Championship and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. He is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
