Troop 242 was featured in a recent Aaron on Scouting article. Charles B., an Eagle Scout from Troop 242, was a participant in the Houston-Chiba Scout Exchange program in 2017. Check out the article below...

Houston’s Troop 242 has produced more Black Eagle Scouts than any troop in the nation. Founded in 1965 by the Rev. William A. Lawson of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, the troop has always focused on teaching Scouting values to boys in the Third Ward.
Last year, five Scouts earned their Eagle rank, bringing the troop’s total to 221. Aaron on Scouting recently spoke with Scoutmaster Sedric Myers about what drives their success — and how other units can follow their lead.

Ukrainian Scouts recently shared the Peace Light with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy who confirmed that it will be passed along to the country's military, hospitals, houses of worship, orphanages, and more.
In 2023 the SHAC International Committee shared the Peace Light to the Ukrainian community in Houston at the Pokrova Ukrainian Catholic Church as Messenger of Peace project.
