Just listen!

Sometimes people don’t need advice. All they want is someone to listen and a heart to understand them.

These are beautiful and inspiring ✨️ ❤️ 💖

Transform your plain wooden fence into a living wall of color with vertical trellises that take your garden to new heights.

A long wooden fence is great for privacy, but it can look flat and boring when left bare. It takes up a huge amount of visual space in your yard without adding any texture or life to the landscape. If you have a smaller yard, you might feel like you do not have enough room for a large flower bed, but you actually have plenty of air space on your fence line just waiting to be used for something beautiful.

Adding vertical trellises creates a layered look that hides the plain wood while making your backyard feel like a private and lush retreat. You get to enjoy a wall of sweet-smelling flowers at eye level instead of just looking at empty boards or weathered siding. This setup allows you to grow a massive amount of color in a very narrow space, which is perfect for keeping your lawn open for activities. It also provides a sturdy backdrop for your other plants and helps your entire property feel more organized.

You can easily find beautiful arched or rectangular metal trellises at a local garden center that are ready to go right into the ground. If you want a custom look, you can build your own by making a simple rectangular frame out of rot-resistant cedar and attaching a sheet of wooden lattice to the back. Lay down a thick layer of plain brown cardboard over the grass in front of your fence to smother the weeds without digging out your valuable topsoil. Use a few stainless steel screws to attach your trellises directly to the fence posts so they stay steady during a heavy summer storm.

Fill the base of your new trellises with a rich mix of organic compost and dark topsoil to give your vines a perfect home. Plant fast-climbing flowers like Clematis or Climbing Roses to fill the vertical space with an incredible scent. You can also use Mandevilla for big trumpet-shaped flowers or Honeysuckle to attract hummingbirds to your yard. Tuck in some Patriot Hostas or Green Velvet Boxwoods at the feet of the trellises to hide the base of the vines and keep the roots cool with their big green leaves.

Tie your new vines loosely to the lattice with soft garden twine for the first few weeks to help them find their way up the trellis until they can grab on by themselves.
