Daar Foundation

On October 14th, 2025 Daar Foundation together with the Institute of Judaica (Ukraine) and Dar Charitable Foundation (Ukraine) opened the exhibit “Ukraine - the 21st Century War” at the Victims of Communism Museum and Memorial in Washington, D.C.

This exhibit invites you to walk through the lived experiences of Ukraine in war — from the shattering first day of invasion to the enduring resilience of people rebuilding their lives under fire.

This exhibit represented by 18 selected posters out of the full set of 32, offering a curated glimpse into the broader exhibition.

While the war is still ongoing, we continue to still collect stories and images for future expositions. As Ukraine’s struggle unfolds, the exhibit will be updated to reflect the brave nation fighting for its future. This is more than an exhibition — it is a call to solidarity, empathy, and support for Ukraine.

We thank everyone who attended the opening. The exhibit will be on display until December.

Last week Counselor Katja Smagliy met with a group of the Arcohe School students from California, who came to Washington, DC on an educational visit.

The meeting was held at the Victims of Communism Museum, dedicated to commemorating the more than 100 million people killed by Communism around the world and to those pursuing freedom from totalitarian regimes.

The students saw the temporary exhibit “Ukraine — The 21st Century War. A Story Told Through Images, Testimonies, and Memory,” created by the Institute of Judaica (Ukraine) with the support of the Dar Charitable Foundation (Ukraine) and the Daar Foundation (US). It invited visitors to walk through the lived experiences of Ukraine in war — from the shattering first day of invasion to the enduring resilience of people rebuilding their lives under fire.

Counselor Smagliy answered students’ questions about the work of a diplomatic mission, how the lives of Ukrainian children have been impacted by the Russian war, and donated several books on Ukraine’s history to the Arcohe school library.
