Our Environment, Our Future Reaches Yelisanda Community Junior Secondary School, Sierra Leone!

Today, the Bright Light Projects Sierra Leone team engaged students at Yelisanda Community Junior Secondary School as part of our flagship “Our Environment, Our Future” program. Through interactive sessions, the team raised awareness on environmental protection, reforestation, waste management, and the role of young people as eco-champions in their community.

This engagement adds to our growing impact in Sierra Leone, where the program now reaches students across 15 schools in the Northern Province. Together with our work in Cameroon, we have empowered 13,300+ students and planted 2,900+ saplings toward restoring 100 hectares by 2030.

Women at the Center: BLP Highlights Reforestation for Climate Resilience in Lower Bokova, Buea!

As part of Commemorating at Lower Bokova, Mile 15, Buea, environmental advocates and community members emphasized the critical role of reforestation in reducing floods and landslides, lowering global temperatures through green spaces, and strengthening food security. BLP specifically highlighted the importance of placing women at the center of climate action, stressing that planting trees especially fruit trees is key to combating environmental degradation and building resilient communities.

Community members expressed deep satisfaction with the knowledge gained and made strong commitments to sustained climate action through tree planting. These efforts directly support our Reforesting Hope Project and “Our Environment, Our Future” program, which has already empowered 13,300+ students across 24 schools in Cameroon and 15 in Sierra Leone, with 2,900+ saplings planted toward restoring 100 hectares by 2030.

Day 2: Turning Plastic Waste into Opportunity at Gratitude Islamic Secondary School!

Today, the Bright Light Projects Buea team continued the practical training at Gratitude Islamic Secondary School, teaching students how to transform plastic waste into beautiful handmade earrings and how to earn from it, learning creative recycling skills while discovering the power of turning waste into income.

This hands-on session perfectly captures our belief that education is not just about reading books, it is about using your hands to earn a living while protecting the environment.

Through our Our Environment, Our Future program, we are raising a generation of young innovators who are both environmentally conscious and economically empowered.
