Most women don’t lose interviews because they lack experience.

They lose leverage in the way they answer questions.

And most of the time…

As a former Amazon hiring manager, I saw this constantly.

Brilliant women with strong technical backgrounds would unintentionally lower their value through language that sounded:

→ Hesitant
→ Overly safe
→ Task-focused
→ Approval-seeking

Not because they weren’t capable.

Because nobody taught them how hiring managers evaluate leadership presence in interviews.

For example:

“Whatever the team needs, I’m happy to help.”

Sounds collaborative…

But leadership-level candidates communicate ownership, decision-making, and business impact.

Or:

“I don’t really have leadership experience yet.”

Meanwhile they’ve:

✔ Led projects
✔ Influenced stakeholders
✔ Solved cross-functional problems
✔ Driven ex*****on across teams

That *is* leadership.

But many women only count leadership if they’ve officially had the title.
