On September 25, 2017 the Hoover Board of Education voted to have all residents of Artists on the Bluff (AOTB) in Bluff Park to vacate the premises by December 31, 2017. Learning To Be The Light (LTBTL) is one of those residents.

In 2011, when the facility first opened, AOTB Director Linda Williams gave us a small area inside the facility in order for us to refurbish computers and give them, along with a monitor, and all necessary peripherals, to Hoover City Schools low-income students. In exchange for this area, LTBTL would maintain the computers and network inside the AOTB facility.

Over the past six years we've refurbished countless computers and they've gone to qualifying HCS students. If the student was a junior or senior in high school, they would also receive a laptop in addition to the PC. Everything given to the student was theirs to keep.

At this time we'll be looking for a new place to do our refurbishing, but in the meanwhile, LTBTL will putting our equipment and those PCs and peripherals meant for students into storage.

We would like to thank AOTB, especially Linda Williams, for supporting LTBTL. Without her, our project couldn't have happened and those students who received PCs wouldn't be on the same level playing field when it comes to technology as their more affluent peers.

We'd also like to thank Hoover City Schools to supporting LTBTL by putting qualifying students in touch with LTBTL. From the beginning HCS has been great.
