At the age of 27, Toby left Switzerland and moved to Japan and then Taiwan, where he remained for several years whilst learning about the culture and how to speak the language. In 1999, Toby moved to the Hawaiian Islands where he fell in love with this unique paradise. It was here that he worked as a helicopter pilot instructor and tour pilot for thirteen years, giving him not only a bird's eye view of the magical surroundings but also the ability to experience and see places only a few lucky people have ever been. During these years, Toby spent time with some of the best photographers and film crews from the likes of National Geographic to Sports Illustrated, which assisted him to perfect the art of capturing the most inspiring images.
