Hi,

At the turn of the new year, I sat down to chat with my friend and contributor about what 2012 could mean for us. We talked about an idea we'd been tossing around for a while that would change all the work we've been doing so far at The Ignition Switch, my online music blog. We've been working together in the music industry for some time, supporting up and coming producers from around the world, but we knew there was more we could do. With a handful of talented producers continually willing to work with us on exclusives, we had the pleasure of unveiling all of them online through our music blog.

With all that being said, there are certain limitations that come with the obligations of publishing content as a music blog and focusing on working with producers. In one way they go hand in hand, it's great for blogs to work with producers for features and interviews, but consistently releasing exclusives blurs the line between the music blog model and a new digital label. It became apparent that we were unconsciously choosing one or the other.

In the blogs infancy, I'd glimpsed down the timeline and ideally what I wanted it's online presence to be. Working with producers and artist is first and foremost the most important thing for me. It quickly became clear that the product that comes from that type of relationship is what I wanted to be involved in. Now, back to this initial new year conversation. As we reminisced on what a great year 2011 was for us online, we didn't want 2012 to be the same. It was different, it was resolution time, more importantly, we had chance to make a real push as an online label. Somehow a couple producers caught wind those ideas we were throwing around that I mentioned, I didn't think anything of it. The plan was simple; let's round up our favorite French House, Disco, Funk producers and release the feel-good compilation of the year. Let's make everyones summer last forever. Let's just work on releasing the best quality music we can, and let everything else fall into place.

I couldn't do it alone, I didn't want to. I'd have a presence in Europe, Marek Wittner, my former contributor turned partner. Just his physical location would be a great help, not to mention his skills as a producer. Checked that off the list. I still needed someone to handle more of the behind the scenes work, in came my former contributor and additional partner Brendan Bradley, willing to take on some of the responsibilities with us. Good news for us, better news for you.

Fast forward five months, it's May and everything is slowly becoming a reality. What was once a "New Year" compilation, quickly turned into a "Spring Dream" and finally ended up as what I'd like to call the "15 track, step by step guide to your summer haze."

What is all of this? What your reading about is a fresh new online label, Dashboard Records, the younger sibling to Dashboard Magazine a new online lifestyle and culture publication. Together as an online magazine and label, it's the culmination of culture online. Dashboard Records is a fresh new take on French House, Funk, Disco and Indie music that prides itself in providing the highest quality music experience at the click of a button.
