A few nights ago, I got to witness a voice come alive.
And it was the most fulfilling moment I’ve experienced as a musician and artist.
I remember what it feels like to stand at the edge of your first moment, the nerves, the voice constantly asking, wondering if you’re ready…and doing it anyway.

I’ve had the privilege of guiding and mentoring a few women who have dreams of creating, singing, and performing music but not knowing exactly where or how to start.

It’s been a beautiful ride choosing music as a career. But can I be honest? It was kinda lonely. As a woman. There weren’t a lot of eager mentors who guided me because the reality is—the industry hasn’t necessarily been kind and open to women. So any woman going into it has had to be tough, be brave, and go into survival mode; and in some ways needing to sacrifice her femininity to survive in a male dominated world.

As I continue to mature, I realize that I can do and become the things a younger female artist would’ve needed: a soft and safe place to land, grow, and try. And with I’ve been doing that. This is and she is putting on her first ever show this Sunday. I’m so proud and excited for her.

We practiced “A Beautiful Noise,”
A song she asked if we could perform together.and somewhere in between the lyrics and the breath, you could hear it—a voice no longer asking for permission.
A voice confident in her skin and place.
Guiding and standing next to a new voice.
Giving the new voice a head start and
a chance at a brighter future.
This is what growth sounds like.

If you’re an aspiring female musician or artist or need some guidance, DM me I’d love to connect with you and help you 🫂❤️
