Logo design for my friend Vanessa’s new bakery near Balboa Park in San Diego🤩🤩

She told me what she wanted “half sunflower half croissant” to represent her bakery. In addition to their pastries that they make in house, their storefront serves as a place for up and coming local bakers and businesses to share the spotlight.

I loved seeing her put the logo on everything: ceramic mugs, tote bags, tshirts, stickers, beanies, keychain.

My favorite thing I tried there was the miso caramel apple monkey bread 🐒 😋 let me know if you’ve tried it out!

Part 3 - A Better Bag Alternative

In order for coffee to stay fresh it needs to be in an air tight bag which usually means 100% plastic.
The coffee bag is made of Biotre Film, an earth-friendly, heat sealable, barrier material. “Biotre Film is made from 60% (by weight) renewable wood pulp. The wood pulp portion is biodegradable. The remaining 40% (by weight) of the bag is Polyethylene (PE) with an additive that is designed to make it disintegrate significantly faster than standard plastic. This packaging has a reduction in waste, less fossil fuel use, and reducing global climate compared to standard plastic.”

After the 1st presentation, we weighed the pros and cons of doing 4 bag designs versus 1 bag design and stickers to differentiate the flavors. By going the sticker route, the client was able to do just 1 purchase order that can be reused if they decide to expand their flavor line and spend less money on their first product run.

Another trick to showcase the packaging design was to import the background (lovely photography taken by our in-house team) into Cinema 4D. Then I was able to render the boxes in this “scene”. It was my first time trying this trick and I’m very happy with the results. Find these products in Best Buy, Target, and online at Crate and Barrel.
