Why massaging out that “knot” around your trap and shoulder blade comes back. Most times it’s referred facet pain from the neck.
How to address:
Changing movement patterns through the cervical spine and strengthening in those patterns will reduce referred pain to the shoulder blade region.
This can mean:
- addressing tightness (lavator/ lats)
- strengthening periscap muscles
- training deep cervical neck endurance
- training mobility in neutral positions
