Breaking ground on our new vegetable plot in Ocala.

This soil is basically sand, so before we grow vegetables, we have to grow healthy soil.

The first step, after removing the established pasture, will be to seed a diverse cover crop. More plant diversity means more root diversity, feeding the soil biology and beginning the process of building organic matter.

After that, we’ll amend the soil, balance the essential nutrients, and get the beds ready.

Then the fun begins.
