Caregiver Support Program Meeting at Homer Senior Center

Caregiving can be meaningful, exhausting, confusing, and isolating, but you are not alone.

Join the Kenai Peninsula Family Caregiver Support Program for a caregiver support meeting at Homer Senior Center:

Wednesday, July 22
2:00–3:00 PM
Homer Senior Center

This program is for family members, friends, neighbors, and community members who help care for a senior age 60+. If you check in on someone, pick up medications, take them shopping, help with meals, bathing, dressing, transportation, or other daily needs, you are a caregiver.

Free support and resources are available to help caregivers and seniors improve quality of life through guidance, advocacy, and connection.

ALMOST $7 BILLION | That's how much older Alaskans contributed to the state economy in 2023.

In 2025, the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) estimated 2023 cash flow from Alaskan retirees ages 60+ at approximately $6.7 billion. This exceeded the amount that came in from other key sectors, such as tourism spending ($4.4 billion in 2023), mineral production ($4 billion in 2024), and the average annual seafood harvest ($1.8 billion in 2022–2023).

This reflects substantial growth since a 2006 ISER report, which estimated that retirees ages 60+ contributed about $1.5 billion to Alaska’s economy based on 2004 data:https://iseralaska.org/static/legacy_publication_links/researchsumm/UA7.pdf

Together, these findings underscore the increasing economic importance of Alaska’s older population as retirement income continues to circulate through local and regional economies.
